JavaOne Sessions
Some of the JavaOne sessions have been posted online, looking forward to them!
WARNING! Continue reading only if you’re interest in the abstract description of the sessions. These are just some of the sessions that caught my eye. There’s a lot to review since we’re finally moving from Java 1.4 to Java 1.6.
To JavaOne I Go
Looks like I’ll be going to JavaOne this year in San Francisco! I’m pretty excited about going to this conference for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, I’ve never been to California. Secondly I’ve never been to a development based conference either. I’ve had my share of conferences during my stent at Final Support but none that I was “excited” to attend. See you in Cisco!
A Father's Prayer
Lord grant me the strength and knowledge to do your will. Help guide me to be the husband, father, and Christian you want me to be. Grant me the patience of Job and the courage to do what is right. Grant me the wisdom to see past my own understanding and to rely on you.
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. - Psalm 94:18-19
Lord I cry out, help me I cannot do this on my own! It is only through your love and grace can I do all things.
To Google Docs I Go
Been a long time coming but I finally decided to migrate all my documents over to Google Docs. I’ve been using Google Docs for years just never switched everything over. The only negative thing I’ve noticed is there seems to be a bug or something funky with the way documents are presented when marked ‘Hidden’. Still playing with it…
To Ubuntu or not to Ubuntu
I’m one of those weird people who have multiple computers, three at current count, each running a different OS. Two desktops running Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux and my laptop running Apple OS X. Lately I’ve been toying around with the idea of dropping my Windows installation for two Ubuntu computers. I really like Ubuntu, I’ve been using it for years and haven’t had any problems with it except for my unfriendly printer that only has XP drivers… but I digress. Window 7 came out and while I did run the release candidate for a while there’s always those lingering issues:
- It’s $200!
- Windows so I know I’ll be plagued by slowdowns, spy-ware, viruses, etc
- Did I mention it’s $200?
Who am I kidding, I’m going with Ubuntu
Grandma B
Last night Grandma B left us to go be with our Lord and Savior. It pains the heart to know that such a kind and loving woman will not be here with us any more. Yet my heart leaps with joy knowing that she is in no more pain and that she has finally made it home. Grandma B, you will be missed.
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.
John 14:1 – 4
Proverbs
I’ve always lived Proverbs, probably my favorite book.
“Teach a wise man. He will become even wiser. Teach a person who does right. He will learn even more. If you really want to become wise, you must begin by having respect for the Lord. To know the Holy One is to gain understanding.” – Proverbs 9:9-10
Good stuff!
