E3 is in full swing right now and if you’ve never heard of it, stop living under a rock! At E3 Sony announced it’s plans for the PS3. As read from the 1UP.com article,
The next-generation console will come in two models — but both will include a hard drive, unlike Xbox 360. The base model will retail at $499 with 20 GIG HD. Those with a little extra disposable cash can pick up a premium version loaded with a 60G GIG HD for $599 at launch this November.
Lets see, $500 starting price to play games…right. The most common argument that I’ve heard arguing for the $500 cost is that “it’s BlueRay!” OK. Its BlueRay. Its also $500 dollars! Sure, BlueRay is superiour to HD-DVD however HD-DVD appeals to many people where it matters, their wallet! I’d like for BlueRay to dominate, however the price tag will undoubtly be their undoing. Beta anyone?
Oh, I almost forgot. Nintendo’s Wii is going to sell for around $250, at least that’s according to an article in EGM. I must admit I was perplexed when Nintendo changed the name of the console from Revolution to Wii however you just gotta love the saying, “hand me a Wiimote and let’s play ___”.
