Doh!

I have an IMAP server set up for my email and I was having some issues with it. While on my home desktop I tried to send an email but got a “Relay access denied” error. I could receive no problem but not send. So I’m Googling for the answer and just about all the hits I came across said the same thing. “Remove your account and then re-add it.” Now why in the world would I remove my account if I can receive messages?! Finally after playing around with my mail reader I found the setting that tells the client that the SMTP server requires credentials to send mail. I don’t know why I didn’t see this before! The moral of the story, if there is one, check your SMTP security settings before you delete you email account.
